چکیده

In this paper, we use the no-response test idea, introduced in ([L-P], [P1]) for the inverse obstacle problem, to identify the interface of the discontinuity of the coefficient γ of the equation ∇ · γ(x)∇+ c(x) with piecewise regular γ and bounded function c(x). We use infinitely many Cauchy data as measurement and give a reconstructive method to localize the interface. We will base this multiwave version of the no-response test on two different proofs. The first one contains a pointwise estimate as used by the singular sources method. The second one is built on an energy (or an integral) estimate which is the basis of the probe method. As a conclusion of this, the no response can be seen as a unified framework for the probe and the singular sources method. As a further contribution, we provide a formula to reconstruct the values of the jump of γ(x), x ∈ ∂D at the boundary.

Employing Foundation Nonlinearity to Mitigate Seismic Demand in Superstructure

Because of difficulty in inspection and retrofit of foundation in comparison with other elements, the common design philosophy is to avoid any nonlinear deformation in the foundation. This paper shows that by employing controlled foundation nonlinearity, in predetermined sections with arrangements for inspection and retrofit, it is possible to reduce seismic demand on superstructure. Localizing...

Outlier test for a group of multivariate observations

Assume that we have m independent random samples each of size n from Np(; ) and our goal is to test whether or not the ith sample is an outlier (i=1,2,…..m). To date it is well known that a test statistics exist whose null distribution is Betta and given the relationship between Betta and F distribution, an F test statistic can be used. In the statistical literature however a clear and preci...

Existence and Iterative Approximations of Solution for Generalized Yosida Approximation Operator

In this paper, we introduce and study a generalized Yosida approximation operator associated to H(·, ·)-co-accretive operator and discuss some of its properties. Using the concept of graph convergence and resolvent operator, we establish the convergence for generalized Yosida approximation operator. Also, we show an equivalence between graph convergence for H(·, ·)-co-accretive operator and gen...

On the Convergence Analysis of Gravitational Search Algorithm

Gravitational search algorithm (GSA) is one of the newest swarm based optimization algorithms, which has been inspired by the Newtonian laws of gravity and motion. GSA has empirically shown to be an efficient and robust stochastic search algorithm. Since introducing GSA a convergence analysis of this algorithm has not yet been developed. This paper introduces the first attempt to a formal conve...
